Yep, Filipinos are all over the world. And for sure, we won’t let ourseflves get left behind. Screw those corrupt politicians, there’s a lot more of us who deserve some damn recognition and respect. Here are some of the famous Filipinos who made it big internationally.

Black Eyed Peas

Apl de Ap

Born in Barrio Sapang Bato Angeles, Pampanga. ”Kung Pinoy ka Sigaw na! Sige!” A true proud Pinoy artist and a member of the famous Black Eyed Peas, no other than Apl de Ap (Allan Pineda Lindo). The first time that I knew about him was when I bought a pirated (huhuhu! I’m guilty!) album of a local rap artist, Gloc 9, and I saw his song “the Apl song” on the list with Black Eyed Peas as the artist. Of course I knew that this one’s a foreign group but I was surprised to hear that someone’s singing in Tagalog. I was like, is this how terrible pirated CDs are? Then I found out a little later that there’s a Pinoy member on the said group so I was like, COOL!

Billy Crawford

Now this one is big in Europe and Asia. Started his showbiz career in the Philippines as this really cute boy who loves to dance and sing in the youth variety show That’s Entertainment. Now this guy is a man and was then reported to date some hot gals including Mandy Moore. His talents literally moved his a** to success in the European countries. Who am I talkin about? He’s Billy Crawford! He currently have a dance reality show where he’s the host, M.O.V.E., featured here in the Philippines. The show’s looking for Pinoy back up dancers for Billy’s concert here on August at the Araneta Coliseum.

Enrique Iglesias

The hot and sexy latino singer Enrique Iglesias. His father as we all know is the famous Latino singer Julio Iglesias and his mother is a Filipina journalist and a socialite, Isabel Preysler. Need not to say more. This guy is one of the few people that the girls all across the globe drools over. He sold out a lot of albums and songs. He’s such a big hit in the U.S. and in Europe.

Lea Salonga

Her voice had graced the Miss Saigon musical and was used in some of Disney’s finest animated films like in Aladdin as Princess Jasmine. The one and only Ms. Lea Salonga. Also a That’s Entertainment starter, her skills both in acting and singing were first molded here in the Philippines. Her performance as Kim in Miss Saigon brought her to such heights in her career. Eversince, performing was her only passion, but now, being a mom is her new duty.

She was the former Miss Teen USA 2000 and recently hosted the Miss Universe Pageant with Mario Lopez. Yep, she’s Vanessa Minnillo. Born in Angeles City Philippines with Vincent Minnillo (American) and Helen Berecero (Filipina) as her parents. She also hosted TRL on MTV and served as the New York based correspondent for the Entertainment Tonight. Vanessa was also featured in the Men’s magazine MAXIM and she made at as #15 in their Hot 100 issue. She’s been dating Jessica Simpsons ex-husband Nick Lachey, former 98 degrees member. Sadly, she’s now in a controversy with Lindsay Lohan about her pictures with the singer actress holding a knife towards her throat. Well, that’s Hollywood.
